Hello. I tried to download this newest version but the following appears and will therefore will not work for me:

Message from Sandboxie

SBIE1241 cannot mount registry hive [C000015C/22]

Could you please tell me how to fix this? I'm using Windows 8.1 just to let you know. Please let me know as soon as possible as I am using Google Chrome until I can find a solution. Thank you very much and have a wonderful week. Aloha.

Sincerely,

V

How are you trying to install SBIE? Directly on your host? Or is this a portable version? More info here http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?SBIE1241

Hi Craig. I click on the 8.07 Beta Available (latest version 5.07.1) 64 bit version like I normally do. It downloads; I choose to overwrite the existing sandbox and the installation wizard appears. I select next until it is done and then the sandbox default box shows, yet my existing sandbox pizza icon still exists. I click on the icon, the countdown from 5 to 0 proceeds, and I click on the icon to continue, but the hive error message i showed you appears (I just tried it again and got the same result). I think it is directly to the host. Any advice you could share with me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Craig and have a wonderful week. Aloha.

Sincerely,

V

We seem to think that something is locked in the SBIE environment.

Have you rebooted since you installed? What version of Win 10 are you running (10240 initial release...or something newer?)

If not, Please do that. Then overwrite SBIE with the the newest beta.

Do you have settings you want to save? If not, do a complete install (remove SBIE, Don't keep old settings, reboot, re-install)

Chrome offline installer cannot start up

Post by cxmhiiemn00 » Wed Dec 02, 2015 4:01 am

Download Chrome offline installer from https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/d ... andalone=1, check the digital signature, drag into a new Sandboxie.

After a few seconds it terminates itself, no any window, no error messages, even with Admin right.

Windows 10 x64 build 10586, Windows Defender
Windows 10.0.14393 x64 | Sandboxie 5.16 | Life-time unlimited license

What happens if you don't drag Chrome, and just install it directly in the SB? How about when Chrome is installed on your host and then "run as sandboxed?"

I created a new SB, dragged both the Standalone and the online installer into SBIE, UAC was triggered, Chrome installed w/o issues each time.
I did have to reboot my Win10 VM, as the first time, the standalone installer did what you described. After the reboot, I had no further issues.

win10 (1511) x32, snb5.07.1, ff42, norton security.

When downloaded and saved the file (zip, jpg, 7z, etc), firefox process does not respond, opera crashed.
firefox:
SBIE2303 Не удалось захватить WinStationOpenServerW (4)
SBIE2318 Инициализация DLL не удалась для 'winsta.dll'

The installer is being run as an admin, i have very thoroughly checked all services to make sure there is not hint of antivirus/antimalware blocking this install. I have 64 bit win 10.

I have tried in safe mode, and normal mode, i have tried the stable version and this version as well as an old version i had none function and all get this same error.
Thank you for the links im sure most people who post have not searched to try to solve the issue first before posting, I have spent roughly 8 hours now trying to get this program to function, many internet searches as well as forum searches have been completed.

I have also checked my registry to make sure there is not a corruption or traces of a previous install hanging around.
You have something that is preventing the Sbie driver from installing. Check your system event log for related error msgs.
Not sure why I have not given up on the program I love and paid for yet but after 30 hours or so trying to get this to work i am still at it (call it OCD determination I guess) I have no firewall or antivirus protection running, I have tried installing in safe mode multiple times, as well as trying to install with different folder names in different locations as Tzuk used to suggest (missing him right about now).

Trinitytrick, look at the previous error msgs and see if any explain the actual error.

it posts 2 errors when it fails to install both are related to timeout, what you see is from multiple install/uninstall/restarts to attempt this over and over sadly
the errors are the one from the screen shot and 7009 A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the Sandboxie Service service to connect.

/edit just to clarify, if i clear the logs and try a fresh install i only get 2 errors period, i have also set that timeout delay in the registry all the way upto 300000ms with no effect.
I had sandboxie installed when i upgraded to Windows 10 a few weeks ago but an older version 3.5 i think, which does not function so i uninstalled and tried to install a newer version that was compatible with Win 10, I have been having these issues ever since.

what happens when you run "sc start sbiedrv" from an elevated command line? There should be an event log entry if it succeeds or fails. The 1st error is usually the important one.

Problem solved, originally upgraded from win 7 32 bit to 64 bit win 10 for whatever reasons this has created a few problems, just did a third fresh install this time with a 64 bit win 7 then added win 10 64 bit and it works like a charm.
