When using a sandbox with a large number of regdiffs (like after install of a number of programs+related dependencies), registry access from a sandboxed program can take seconds. This usually improves after everything is restarted, but it can be very frustrating as installing applications into the sandbox becomes slower and slower as the registry size increases. In my case, the regdiff file has over 61,000 lines in it, and I used BSA to pinpoint registry access as the bottleneck during subsequent installs.
If it matters, all programs I installed into the same box used the windows installer service.

Hello NobodySpecial,
Please provide more information regarding the problem that you are experiencing (error messages, applications involved, antivirus software involved if any...), as well as steps to reproduce the issue, so that we can test it.
If you are running user created tools, please check this section for updates: (some of them, such as BSA, are no longer supported due to the users not being in the forums anymore and the tools not supporting latest versions of Sandboxie)

There are no error messages, and everything completes - it can just take a while (in my case, over 1.5 days). This particular machine doesn't have antivirus software and the firewalls are disabled.
On this machine are a few sandboxes, particularly one where I put all of my game dev software, and another that I installed all of my CAD software to. The settings for the CAD software box (the one with poor registry performance):
The BSA stuff at the end was just there when I was trying to test what was causing the bottleneck. All I did to cause this was install the student edition of Solidworks (this should work with the free trial), along with some other minor free utilities (like FEMM, etc). This was into a fresh install of Windows too.
I realize that I could install outside of a sandbox, but nowadays, none of the big-box programs clean up after themselves on uninstall and always leave (sometimes massive amounts of) garbage behind. I'm not personally worried about malware (this is a dedicated comp) so much as cleanliness here.

Hello NobodySpecial ,
I tried to get a trial of Solid works, they stated that "a sales representative will contact you shortly..." . Not sure if they will reach out or not. Are there any other programs I can use instead?
What exactly takes that long, the installation process?
Are you noticing slowness after several days?
What is running in the sandbox when you experience the issue?
Does the problem occur in a new Sandbox with default settings?
