Specific IP blocking.

Post by stisev » Mon Dec 13, 2010 5:24 am

Is there any way to block specific IPs in Sandboxie? Perhaps with HOSTS file?

It would be great if there was an option in restrict access (internet) for a place to put specific IPs/host that the sandbox cannot access.

You asked this before and it was answered!

Individual HOSTS files can indeed be used for individual sandboxes.

Oh, man. rofl.

I don't even remember asking that. I even searched and didn't see my own post. -_-

Heh. I knew about that link because it recently answered my own question about using a sandbox specific HOSTS file. I'm obsessive about sniffing out and blocking all third party ad, tracking and social media related servers, but on the other hand it's good to have a sandbox where ads aren't blocked so that certain video sites will still function.

And just to be clear, "specific IP blocking" is not possible with a standard HOSTS file of course, which only blocks domain names by rerouting them to a reserved IP address on your own PC. IP blocking can be done via other methods but I'm not familiar with them.
