Block reading from outside SB

Post by JimS » Mon Jan 30, 2017 3:08 pm

Hi folks,

Been reading for a while, this very difficult to understand...

So SBIE blocks writes to my machine, but NOT reads?

Should not a sandbox product have a button to block programs inside the sandbox, from reading data outside of the sandbox, and allowing transmission of that data over a network or the internet? Is it not a sandbox if such reads are allowed?

I want to run Firefox or Chrome in SBIE and have the sandbox block requests for reading data on my machine outside of SBIE, such as files or registry entries. And/or ask permission when such read data is requested for ex-filtration.

Should not this be an obvious BUTTON on the interface?

Mean time, are there directions to "tweak' SBIE to do this?

Jim

Hello JimS,

There is no magic button, but you can definitely tweak Sandboxie:

Please have a look at the following settings:
https://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?ClosedFilePath
https://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?ClosedKeyPath
https://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?Res ... nsSettings
https://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?BlockPort

I have gathered some threads that contain examples regarding how to set some of the above listed:

Regards,
Barb.-
