Outlook

Post by PCMan » Wed Jul 15, 2015 8:34 am

I've tried searching the forums before posting a new thread, but nothing. When I have Outlook sandboxed, it opens up very slow. Is this a problem for anyone else? I'm not using any other security programs, just Windows Firewall.

Windows 7 64b
Office 2007
Sandboxie 4.20
SandBoxie/uBlock/AdGuard/AX64

I personally have not seen this issue. SBIE is a very light program, so I wouldn't think that would have much interference with performance.

Yes, Sandboxie doesn't slow down anything else, just Outlook. I'll keep digging, thanks.

I'm doing some testing today w/ a new beta of SBIE on all flavors of Win and Office 2007/10. I'll see what I can gleam if anything.

PCman, if you are using Drop Rights, make sure to test running Outlook without it.

I don't use Outlook but I have noticed that if I run Thunderbird sandboxed, it is very slow to launch. About 8 seconds with SBIE vs 1 second without. Whether or not drop rights enabled or not. I think I noticed it even as far back as SBIE v3 but the issue never occured for me until I switched from XP to W7x64.

Outlook 2010 ran terribly for me when I first began sandboxing it also, I believe it may have been to do with the size of my archive file as sandboxie seemed to copy the entire file into the sandbox when outlook first ran. I ended up allowing sandboxie to save directly into the Outlook folder:

OpenFilePath=%Local AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook\

Not ideal I know but it did the job.

Did any of you have problems with losing emails after opening Outlook with SBoxie?

FYI, quoting myself here but my problem appears fixed after deleted Thunderbird stuff from Sandbox Settings and recreating settings for email.
