As for UAC, is there a difference between "completely disabled" and "never notify"? Otherwise I suspect it just runs applications at the user's privileges that started them. (Which by default is likely administrative.)
In Windows 7 when you set UAC to "Never notify" it forces any application to run in elevated privileges while in Windows 8 it wont, but when an application elevate itself it allows without notifying you.

Disabling UAC means to set UAC to "Never notify".

In Windows 7, a User Account that is without admin rights will not be affected when setting UAC to "Never notify".

No, no difference at all according to this:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... =windows-7
<snip>To turn off UAC, move the slider to the Never notify position, and then click OK. <snip>
As for the "forces" part, I think is an issue of semantics, that's it. Disabling/turn off/never notify UAC actually doesn't forces anything, it just allow the default admin. privileges.

I know that this is an off topic question, sorry, but are there any benefits from using Appguard if you are already using Sandboxie properly? Except for doubling the layer of protection of course, does Appguard cover anything else that Sandboxie doesn't? Thank you.

Sanboxie = containment in an isolated environment.
AppGuard = stops malware same as Sandboxie by not using an isolated environment.

Ok, let's not get all wrapped up in semantics. I will rephrase my statement: If you disable UAC (set it to "never notify"), and are running as an administrator, Windows will start every application as elevated (high integrity). Windows will automatically give every application admin privileges.

Officially, Invincea does not support Win 8.0. It has a lot of issues fixed in WIn 8.1. But, we are looking into this anyway to see if it could expose a potential problem in Win 8.1.

Does this crash happen every time you start IE in Sbie? Does it go away after a reboot?

@Curt, would there be a solution with this in the upcoming updates?!.. Have the same situation as Peter2150 running appguard thats why I disabled UAC.

We're not going to spend any more time on this for now. It is a bug in Chrome's code, so hopefully they will fix it.

Why do applications not start if UAC is enabled (which is the default setting)?

Windows 8.0 is a Microsoft officially supported product with regular updates to correct any problems. My Windows 8.0 is completely up to date with all service packs and Windows Update.

All previous versions of Sandboxie (including Betas) that were compatible with Windows 8.x have worked properly on this Windows 8.0 installation.

I have not moved to Windows 8.1 as there are a couple of applications I use that are not compatible with Windows 8.1 (Sandboxie is not in use nor involved in any way with these applications).

The misbehavior is consistent for each installation, but the symptoms change with each re-installation of Sandboxie.

I just reinstalled Sandboxie 4.15.2 to see if the problems go away after a reboot. They do not. With this installation, I do not get the error dialog boxes previously described. Instead, IE comes up missing its menu bar. If you attempt to type a URL into the address bar, IE locks up (stops responding) before you can get the URL fully typed in. Another symptom is you can create additional tabs, but you cannot change to these tabs.

Upon reverting to Sandboxie 4.14, everything works properly again.

Sandboxed Explorer crashes upon clicking Menu(File, Computer, View) as well as expanding ribbon.

Tested in Windows 8.1 x64 using Sandboxie Version 4.15.1 and 4.15.2 but working on 4.14.

:) Right click on title bar in sandboxed explorer window and you'll see context menu didn't inherit aero theme. Win7 x64 bug since one of latest Tzuk releases if I remember well

Also do you know about taskbar bug? Every time I update Sandboxie taskbar shortcuts opens in new placeholder. Two screenshoots from this thread shows it. https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issu ... l?id=91650
I mean do not read thread, just see screenshoots. All shortcuts pinned to taskbar are broken if you update Sandboxie. It's a Sandboxie bug OR I don't know how to pin it correctly...

4.15.3 has been released but this problem still exists. We should have a fix on Monday.

Sandboxie 4.15.3 / Windows 8.0 64-bit / IE 10

IE comes up with no menu bar and immediately stops responding.

Restarting Windows does not change anything.

After reinstalling Sandboxie 4.14, everything operates properly.

When installing Sandboxie
4.15.2 (SandboxieInstall-415-2.exe)
and
4.15.3 (SandboxieInstall-415-3.exe)
on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, the Program Compatibility Assistant screen keeps popping up. It pops up just after installation when the Sandboxie Control window pops up and flickers (I think doing its registration/activation check). The program seems to install correctly. Has anyone else been getting this? See attached screenshot.

I have a separate Sandbox for Outlook 2010. With 4.15.2 it was slow but useable. But with 4.15.3 it was to slow to be useful. Any ideas

Win 7 x64.
