[.03] Fixes/improvements to DDE across the sandbox

Version 4.03.03 brings back some important functionality that was missing in version 4.02 and that is DDE communication across the sandbox.

It should now be possible to click on documents that are associated with forced programs and the documents should open correctly.

It should also be possible to use Bookmark Buddy out of the sandbox with a Firefox in the sandbox.

Thank you for your patience with this.

Cool, thanks! :) This is the first 4.03 version I've tried, but just wanted to confirm/report that the DDE-related issues I noticed seem to be fixed now: links from any external program (or Run dialog) now open in Forced IE, and the .mht files open without an error message.

.
In my XP SP3, forcing Excel is working properly (opening/closing/deleting the sandbox).

Regarding Word, Word documents open sandboxed when I click on them but the sandbox does not delete on closing. After closing the sandbox, Word freezes and SBIE and Word continues running in the sandbox. To delete the sandbox, it needs to be done manually. :)

Tzuk, I appreciate your work in making SBIE stronger and better than before. SBIE V4 8)

You say "closing the sandbox", you mean closing the Word window?
And I assume the same hang does not happen if you right-click Run Sandboxed to start Word?
Which edition of Office is it?

Yes, when I click the X to close Word, it hangs and the sandbox doesn't delete.

It only happens when Word is being forced to open sandboxed. If I " right-click Run Sandboxed to start Word", the hang doesn't happen.

I am using Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003. XP SP3.

Thanks for DDE fixes in .03. Now I can click on link in un-sandboxed program (eg. Thunderbird) and it will open in sandboxed Firefox.

Also, if I open sandboxed Firefox then un-sandboxed Firefox, a click on a link will still open in sand-boxed instance (ie. which version gets opened first opens the page).

This has given 4.03.03 same functionality as 3.xx builds.

Great! Hopefully that takes care of all the DDE issues. Thanks for the quick check Bo.

I forgot to mention, version 4.03.04 also fixes the problem with Bookmark Buddy on x64, that stevet reported.

Thanks, Bookmark Buddy works now, but drop rights has to be unchecked. Is this the way it will be, about "drop-rights"? I am grateful you worked out this problem!

How about if you add in Sandbox Settings > Resource Access > Window Access:

BMKBUDDY/IgnoreUIPI

Does this help?
