It means your license will remain valid even if you upgrade to a newer version.
Your license will expire only after the time limit, it is not tied to a particular version.

I guess it's good for those of us who got in before the change, but it sucks for anyone new to Sandboxie. Subscription type deals are the worst. Things are looking to go downhill from here.

I have to agree. Subscription doesn't make sense for me. Would've been better to just raise the price of the lifetime-license.

Actually just increasing the price for the lifetime license would probably still not be a good idea since it's clear that tzuk wants to go away from. Plus, lifetime license just don't provide a good enough income source. However subscription is also not a very nice idea. If it is, Microsoft would have already done away with the ability to buy Office outright for that particular version and only force subscription, but they did not and instead offer both.

Perhaps offering paid upgrades would have been a nice idea so paying 30 dollars, you can update up to the version prior the the next major version. Or something like that. It could even be "for 10 upgrades" or whatever. Something many software developers have done.

Unfortunately, since tzuk already sold the software to Invicea, really don't know whether he has any control over the license anymore so that's going to be difficult.

I would like to make a small donation, since 15€ for only one year is too expensive for me. That is 150€ for ten years...

Software should not be so expensive.

Assuming you aren't a minor living at home, and assuming you work for a living, would you work for donations?

It's funny how math works. You look at the 150€ figure and it seems kind of large. Then you divide it by 10 and laugh it off as nothing.

If you think it's too much then use the free version and quit complaining.
