trying to install & test nu apps in sbie but i'm screwin

Post by Unknown_User_766 » Thu Jun 07, 2007 6:04 pm

i'm sure i'm overlooking a step that is obvious but i'm missing it!!

after downloading the app and "running sandboxed" the final step usually requires a reboot.
when i reboot, the sandboxed process is terminated and i'm back to square-one.

is there a way to reboot and keep the sandbox that installed the app intact? please respond.
thanks..rube

usualy applications that realy require reboot (not all that tell you to reboot realy need one!) install a driver or system service.

Services are not supported to be installed inside a sandbox and with drivers you should enable drivers installations in the config

thanks for the quick response...but i'm not getting what you mean.
are you saying that installing and testing new apps to check them out is not possible on sbie ?
if this is possible, then i' m trying to get the procedure to make it happen successfully..

also, could you be more specific, ie " enable drivers installation in the config"

thanks

You can install apps in Sandboxie just fine, what he was saying is that if an setup that you run sandboxed requires a restart, it usally means that the setup installed a driver and/or service, and installing drivers and services arent supported in sandboxie, atleast not yet...., but 95 out of a 100 times, if you install something sandboxed and it requires a restart, you can actually run the program just fine without having to restart, (assuming the program didnt install and/or launch a driver or service), hope that made sense to you.
Windows 7 SP1 x64, Sandboxie v3.70 x64 with Experimental Protection, GnuPG, OTR (Off-The-Record), Sticky Password, My Brain.
