I just realised that Thunderbird version 24.1.1 tags are not working any more.
They always did work and the last correct tag is some weeks ago, though when today I wanted to tag a message, close TB and then open it the tag is gone.
All this time this has worked with TB running smooth in SBIE. I have SBIE 4.18 64-bit running.
Also I think I have correctly set up the SBIE config since I could all this time send and receive emails in the TB SBOX and all fine.
I have not updated TB and keep the OS super clear with regular OS images and restores.
TB is portable and runs from a folder but that is also set up and runs perfectly, except for the tags not working any more.
Regardless of how many messages I tag, once I close and open TB the tags on those messages are gone.
I have set up and kept the config file for the TB SBOX as lined out in this post http://forums.sandboxie.com/phpBB3/view ... =5&t=19374 that I shared for other users that like to have multiple instances of TB portable for multiple users on the same machine.
No I do not want to use the latest TB and no I do not want to change anything as it was running fine all the time.
I have not updated the OS with any updates or made any changes to the TB options or config or have added new addons to TB.
TB runs like it always did, but somehow SBIE does not let is set tags to messages any more.
Even though I very scarcely use tags, when I use them I really want to use them and this has often proven to make searching for an older message a matter of seconds.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Also, perhaps someone from the SBIE company can also reply.
I know and am happy about Bo giving this a shot, however I would also love to hear from an official SBIE support rep about this.
Bo, thank you for your help.

All-clear!
Well not all but it seems that the mail service I am using has recently changed/upgraded servers and now tags on that server don't seem to be accepted. Support mail sent and waiting for reply.
Other mail boxes accept tags fine and show up upon closing and re-starting TB.
Had to rule out add-ons by starting in safe mode and since I keep regular backups of the TB folder and OS I could verify that this is concerning the mail host rather than SBIE.
In this case I let SBIE off the leash..
Thank you all.

Re: Thunderbird Tags Disappearing
Can you run TB unsandboxed, to see if tagging works as expected?
I don't see how Sandboxie could have anything to do with this, as long as emails are successfully being saved outside of the sandbox.
When a tag is applied or unapplied to an email, Thunderbird makes a change to the "Message Source" of that email.
In order to do so, sandboxed TB must be able to edit the Message Source of an email that's outside of the sandbox.
If sandboxed TB can save (write) an email out of the sandbox, the question is: why wouldn't sandboxed TB also be able to edit the Message Source of that same email?
Select an email and then View > Message Source
The first few lines of an email without a tag should be similar to this:
From - ...
X-Account-Key: account...
X-UIDL: ALjmjkQAAA/nVa6IHwV6WIcg5x8
X-Mozilla-Status: 0001
X-Mozilla-Status2: 00000000
X-Mozilla-Keys:
X-Apparently-To: ...
So,
Without any tag:
X-Mozilla-Keys:
After an "Important" tag is applied to the email, the Message Source is changed to:
X-Mozilla-Keys: $label1
Or, after a "Work" tag is applied:
X-Mozilla-Keys: $label2
----
Add a tag to an email in the Inbox, when TB is running sandboxed.
While TB is still running sandboxed, use Windows Explorer (or "File Explorer") to look through the entire contents of the sandbox.
There should not be any file called "Inbox" anywhere inside of the sandbox, if the Message Source of that email in the Inbox was successfully changed outside of the sandbox.

Re: Thunderbird Tags Disappearing
Glad it's working. 99.8% of the time it's not SBIE. SBIE doesn't change any program. Although, if a program needs a weird way of communicating outside of the sandbox, that's where issues come into play.JohnBox wrote:All-clear!

Re: Thunderbird Tags Disappearing
Craig! Highly valuable information! Thank you!
Will pass this into to the email host and let them know.
This will aid them for sure even though the issue seems solved, at least I can tag and un-tag fine again.
Mail host also said this is done locally, but might have switched a flick where email on server is used as master for tags and old tags might hve gone missing while switching server and so on, but things are back to normal and working, nevertheless I will forward them this info.
Highly appreciated!

Re: Thunderbird Tags Disappearing
I used to use Tbird, and moved away from it for 365 and Outlook, however, with all the testing with SBIE and tbird, I've become a big fan again. Let us know how it goes.
Re: Thunderbird Tags Disappearing
I just checked the source of tagged and not tagged messages and don't even see any "X-Mozilla-Keys" in both type of messages.
My email provider informed me that tags are stored in the message file name on the server instead of in the headers of the messages that are tagged. Though this could be provider specific.
Are you doing testing with an IMAP or a POP account? Using IMAP for the account in question that had the tagging issues.
You can safely ditch 365 and Outlook for TB and if you go with TB use the portable version, run it sandboxed and if must use PGP on certain accounts and all is good IMO.
Btw, just learning how to use OpenPGP with TB portable and the Emigmail addon here http://forums.sandboxie.com/phpBB3/view ... 11&t=21603, if you like to chip in.
