How to get back a folder from a deleted sandbox?

Post by MasterOfZero » Sat Feb 14, 2015 6:04 am

Hey Everybody.

I just deleted the contents from my sandbox (am using the German language version, sorry, if I don´t know the proper English terms) and, of course, deleted a folder that I didn´t want to delete. Now, it´s gone and I really would like to have it back.

Is there anything I can do to recover it?

Thanks,

MoZ

Hi MasterOfZero,

First off, turn off your computer and don't use it anymore as new data could overwrite your wanted folder.
Next, you need a specialized tool for data recovery. I do recommend this one: EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard 7.5 Pro
It must be installed into another computer and remove your the HDD where your precious folder is and attach it to this other computer and follow instructions.

Hi Mr. X,

thanks for your response.

How would another computer know where to find a deleted sandboxed folder on an external HDD?

I have been trying to recover those files via Carbonite but somehow, those files are not complete. I must have been very thorough with my deleting.

I guess I have to identify all those files that should be there and download them again. Sigh.

Is not the computer who might know is the recommended program itself which scans the drive for data and might find your lost folder.

But as you say, re-download is the option for you.

Ah well, downloading the files one more time was not that bad ...

But still, is there another way than the one described by Mr. X (thanks, again)?

Like a sandboxed bin or something?

Cheers,

MoZ

So all our deleted SBIE browser activity is retrievable by data recovery tools too?

I believe this is true of any program which "deletes" data from a drive., Often the sector status is simply changed in the FAT without the actual data on the disk changing. If I am not mistaken this is where the options for "secure delete" are intended to ensure more complete data wipe (as much as is possible) and even I`m told data can still potentially be retrieved given time and tech. Check out the "Delete Command" options and also look into any disk cleaner which wipes free space.
