Writing cache files to a different drive when sandboxed?

Post by Simple_One » Tue Oct 30, 2012 1:17 am

If I have the following setup, what happens?

1. I have my E: (which is a physical SSD). The host folder path for my sandbox is on E:
2. I have my internet browser (waterfox) running in my sandbox that is hosted on E:
3. I also have a B: (which is a ramdisk).
4. I change the browsers cache file path from the default that is somewhere on E: to the ramdisk B:

Since the sandbox exists on E: and all information must stay in the sandbox, I'm guessing I will see absolutely no benefit from suing the RAMDisk, since all the reading and writing is forced to stay on E: ?

In order to actually utilise the ramdisk whilst still have the sandbox on E:, I would need to allow the sandbox (or just the browser within it) to have File Access > Direct Access to specified cache folder on the ramdisk B: ?
(the browser is installed to the host and run in the sandbox, so direct access should work, rather than needing Full Access....?)

Cheers

Yes, that's right.

Yes, to both.
