Secure deletion of sanbox contents

Post by krazo1961 » Thu Apr 29, 2010 2:16 pm

Hello,

I use Sanboxie all the time it is one of the best pieces of software I have ever used if
not the best. I wanted to know when I finish browsing sandboxed and I go to the Sanboxie
Control right click on 'Sandbox Defaultbox' and select 'Delete contents' and Sandboxie
deletes the sandbox contents does it delete securely?

In other words all those files, folders and the web history etc get deleted but are they
just deleted in the same way as if you just delete something to your recycle bin. Even
when you empty the recycle bin all those file are recoverable and if Sandboxie just
deletes in the same way all the contents of my 'deleted sanbox they to can be recovered.

I have a program I use that deletes files. folders etc securely (7 pass US DoD 5200 .28
std or more passes) so I can delete anything securely. I also use a program called
CCleaner which I can set to securely delete temp folder contents, dat files, internet caches
temp files, history, cookies and application trails and much much more securely when I am
done browsing this wipes all traces of my activities BUT it only works after running un
sandboxed which defeats the reason I got Sandboxie

I got it so I can surf protected from all the crap out there ready to compromise my system. I can go places (any where) and not have to
worry about it. I only worry about the the traces of my activities and files being recoverable.

I want to know if Sandboxie can add this feature to securely (unrecoverable) delete the
contents of the sandbox. That way all traces of my activities can be irrecoverably
deleted by Sandboxie wen it 'deletes the contents of the sanbox. Ihope I made some sense

so you can help.

Thanks for help

Not by itself, but it can run a console program that will delete the sandbox contents securely.
http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?Dele ... gs#command
See the buttons for SDelete and Eraser on the above settings screen.
Scroll up to invocation, for the auto-delete check box.
Download SDelete and put the unzipped files some place,
or
download Eraser (v5.8.8 recommended, if you can find it ) and install it, then click one of the above mentioned buttons in Sandbox Settings.
I see that the Eraser site has recently released a new update to v6 of their program, but I haven't tried it.
A slightly older v6 version was buggy, when run from a command line (as is necessary for use with Sandboxie).
