Touch keyboard does not launch in sandboxed browser
Two tablets with same issue. On touching address bar, search bar etc touch keyboard does't pop up. I have to launch it manually. It is very annoying issue.
New surface pro 2017
Lenovo miix 2 8
Windows 10, chrome
Very surprised tat no body has yet fixed such a small but cumbersome issue.
Any help? thanks

Re: Touch keyboard does not launch in sandboxed browser
Hello aigle,
I found an old thread that seems to be related:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=22169
We do not test touch screens, but if you provide the results of your Resource Access monitor, I'll have a look :
Create a new Sandbox with default settings and follow these steps:

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.
I already tried that thread and it did not help.
Here is the output from Resource access monitor.

Re: Touch keyboard does not launch in sandboxed browser
Hello aigle,
Does the issue follow you to a new Sandbox with default settings?
It looks like you are using Chrome portable. Does the issue affect other browsers like IE?
I am not seeing much on your Res. Acc. Mon. output, but here's something that did stand out:
WinCls X IPTip_Main_Window
Let's see what happens if you allow that Winclass:
Create a new Sandbox with default settings, right click on your Sandbox --> Sandbox settings--> Resource Access --> Window Access
Hit Add
Paste IPTip_Main_Window
Apply and Ok your way out.
Configure --> Reload configuration.
Try launching the browser in that new sandbox and invoke the on-screen keyboard.
Regards,
Barb.-

Re: Touch keyboard does not launch in sandboxed browser
Hi,thanks for help but unfortunately it doesn't work.
I noticed everytime I touch in url or search bar, an instance of tabtip.exe process is launched inside SBIE. If i touch inside url bar ten times, ten instances of tabtip.exe are launched. However the child process tabtip32.exe is never launched, that may be the reason of touch keyboard not appearing.
BTW internet explorer has no such issues even on default settings.
It doesn't make any difference if i use portable chrome or the installed version.

Re: Touch keyboard does not launch in sandboxed browser
Hello aigle,
What happens if you use the guidance from the previous post and open the paths (change it to whatever browser you are using) for both tabtip and tabtip32?
OpenFilePath=chrome.exe,C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ink\TabTip.exe
OpenFilePath=chrome.exe,C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ink\tabtip32.exe
Can you post the Resource Access Monitor output using IE?

I didn't see those entries in your Res. Acc. Mon results. Did you capture that? Can you copy the output here?I noticed everytime I touch in url or search bar, an instance of tabtip.exe process is launched inside SBIE

Re: Touch keyboard does not launch in sandboxed browser
Hi, tried everything but no joy. Sending logs. BTW I fixed the file path for tabtip32.exe. Also used default sandbox.

Touch keyboard doesn't pop up with firefox as well.

Re: Touch keyboard does not launch in sandboxed browser
Hello aigle ,
Thanks for the updates and logs. I have made the devs aware.
As stated before we do not test touch screens, so I am not sure if a fix will be implemented for this.
I'll update this thread if new information becomes available.

Re: Touch keyboard does not launch in sandboxed browser
ok, thanks. I am really surprised that SBIE is never tested on touch screen. Surface pro must not be an uncommon device even in business set ups.Touch screens are so ubiquitous.
