I posted this problem back on April 11, 2009 & had found a partial cure, but I'm wondering if there's a setting inside Sandboxie that will completely solve the problem.
I have a clipboard extender called Smartboard2000 (no longer supported & their website is gone). When running, I bring it up by pressing Ctrl+0 & then pressing <Enter> to paste.
I would like to know if I can get one instance to work both Sandboxed & unsandboxed simultaneously. (I have allowed Direct Access & Full Access to the clipdata file so that I can paste both inside & outside sandboxed applications.
i.e. If I run it sandboxed, & say I run Firefox sandboxed, then I can use Ctrl+0 to access Smartboard while I'm using Firefox. But if I'm running, say, Word outside of Sandboxie, I can't use the hotkey to access Smartboard.
What I did is bring up 2 instances of Smartboard...1 sandboxed & 1 not sandboxed. However, I found that this sometimes screws up the application data entries...i.e. they exist in one instance of the app & not the other.
If I run Smartboard unsandboxed, then I can't use the hotkey to access Smartboard in Firefox.
Basically, I want to be able to access the application specific shortcut key (Ctrl+0) from within a sandboxed application & also outside a sandboxed application. I can't think of what other settings in Sandboxie that I can try. Is there any hope?
Thank you,
Smartboard 2000

Re: Smartboard 2000
I doubt it. When a program is sandboxed, they are not aware of anything else. Giving full access etc is a way to go, but it may be more than that needed to allow that to work (acessing resources that it "can't see on the host while sandboxed).phrab wrote:I posted this problem back on April 11, 2009 & had found a partial cure, but I'm wondering if there's a setting inside Sandboxie that will completely solve the problem.

Thank you,
I can see it working when a window is in "focus" then it not working when it's not in "focus".
Does the 2000i Smart Board software require any drivers? If so, then that would not be possible within in sandbox.
As for the data corruption, yep that's possible, especially if given a direct access pipe, you're spilling data from 2 instances into each other and well, that's what may happen. You may need more of a VM environment, As opposed to isolation. Punching holes in the SB (which opening that direct access does) begins to degrade the enclosed sandbox.

Hi Craig:
Thank you so much for the reply & sharing your knowledge. I'll stop looking for a solution that probably doesn't exist.
