MS Outlook 2016 - Sandboxie guide

Is there an updated MS Outlook 2016 Sandboxie guide? I've been trying all weekend to get Outlook 2016 (Outlook 365) to run Sandboxed and I can't figure it out.

I'm getting more and more concerned about running Outlook not-Sandboxed.

Can someone please provide me a tutorial on how to run it Sandboxed?

You just run Office in Sbie like anything else. It does require the paid Sbie version, however.

I apologize if I wasn't clear. I'm talking about the click-to-run version of Office 365/2016 (Outlook 365/2016).

I have attempted to just sandbox Outlook.exe and it does not work. Outlook does not open Sandboxed. (I do run the paid version.)

Please check the following:
- Did you check under "Configure" > "Software Compatibility" if there is the needed "[+] Microsoft Office Click-to-Run (registered Sandboxie only)" entry?
- Did you enable under "Sandbox Settings" > "Applications" > "Email Reader" the "Office Outlook" entry?
- Did you change the installation path of Sandboxie? (The Template works with "C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\" only.)

Well, APMichael, you helped me solve the riddle! Thank you.

Because I have a SSD, I try to install most of my programs to my D drive. So, Sandboxie is NOT installed in C:\Program Files\Sandboxie.

I assume that there is no work-around other than re-installing Sandboxie onto my C drive?

I think this should be possible:
- Run Notepad as Admin, open the file "Templates.ini" and search for [Template_OfficeClickToRun].
- Correct the path for "HostInjectDll=" and "HostInjectDll64=".
- Save the changes and reboot Windows.
You have to do this after every version update of Sandboxie.
(I hope the devs will include a better solution.)

I too still have problems running Outlook from Office 2016 C2R in a sandbox even with Sandboxie version 5.14

Frankly I've had to give up for now...

Sending and receiving emails appears to freeze Outlook if it has to download emails from more than one account, or more than just a couple of emails on any individual account.

Really frustrated by this... Sandboxing Outlook and protecting myself from dodgy email was the main justification for donating... And if it's kept going smoothly, it's the sort of thing I reakon some would pay again for (small amount!)... Personally I have not experienced the file size issues - but I give direct access to the *.pst & *.ost files that Outlook stores everything in... Why you would want to replicate them in the sandbox, I don't know - and the sizes mentioned would definately create quite some lag at start up of outlook - even if using SSDs... Presuming you keep regular backups of the *.pst & *.ost files - it really is not necessary, or any more secure, to replicate them in the sandbox each and every time you start Outlook!!

I now employ a network bridge to scan all my http, https, and ftp traffic, and sandboxing is slowly becoming standard for browsers (chrome etc...) - so the real bragging rights for Sandboxie are in its ability to sandbox office programs.... Or at least they would be bragging rights, if only it worked a bit more consistently..!!

I'm a big fan of Sandboxie - I advise all who I help with their computers, to employ it & donate for the full functionality - PLEASE I hope you get the niggles with M$ Office & Office Outlook sorted soon folks. I'd hate to have to find an alternative after investing so much time!

PS. for anyone interested in hardening their network with a network bridge as I've mentioned I have - the software/systemware to convert an old box into a very pro-active network bridge is freely available to all that can be bothered... And surprisingly, it comes with 2 top-of-the-line virus scanners built-in, & self-updating, for free...!! I'd put a link, or name here - but I respect Sandboxie too much, and I don't know if they'd thank me for doing so..!! But you all know how to use a search engine don't you..?!
