Problems with Windows Genuine Activation

Post by JerLoe » Sat Mar 16, 2013 12:24 am

I looked around and didn't see anyone else mentioning this so I will. I just recently built and new system tower for myself, barebones. Activated Windows and all. Installed Sandboxie up front to keep it clean. (Windows 7 Ultimate SP1) Then I decided to install Windows XP Mode along with Virtual PC. Long story short, when trying to download the necessary files there is a check authenticate if my copy of Windows is genuine. Something we all have come across at one time or another. Well it seems that if I would try to authenticate using IE10 via Sandboxie, then I would fail the test. When I finally tried authenticating outside of Sandboxie, I passed. I know, I have worked around my problem and know how to handle it in the future but I thought I would clue you guys in.

I may have worked this out entirely differently if I knew the problem I was having. Could I, should I be able to authenticate Windows at some other time through Sandboxie? Will Microsoft inadvertently lock down my computer someday if it randomly checks in the future? Because I'm going to be using Sandboxie to access the internet all the time.

Thanks, I love the product. I've had it for a year or so now and I like it. But now that I have a 64bit motherboard I don't know if I should expect anymore surprises. Not sure what "Experimental Protection (64-bit)" is all about yet. Yet it sounds a little spooky, gonna have to look into that.
