New computer and Registration Key [SOLVED]
New computer and Registration Key [SOLVED]
I'm a long-time user of Sandboxie and purchased a Personal License back on 6/20/2008 and another Personal License on 10/13/2011. I bought the second one just because I like the program so much and wanted to support Ronen Tzur in his efforts to sustain it. I still have the receipts for the licenses.
Both licenses were marketed as lifetime that could be used on any machines I own.
I have recently purchased a new desktop (my old one died) and I want to install Sandboxie on it using one of the two Personal Licenses that I own.
Two questions:
1) Are the Personal Licenses that I purchased from Ronen Tzur being honored by the new owners of Sandboxie under the same marketing terms (i.e. lifetime on any mackines I own)?
2) The 2008 Personal License that I bought came with a "Registration Key" consisting of 7 digits (alpha and numeric). The 2011 Personal License that I bought came with a "Product Key" consisting of 25 digits (much like a Windows Product Key). Assuming the answer to my first question is that Invincea is honoring my Personal Licenses, does it matter which Registration Key or Product Key I use?

Re: New computer and Registration Key
The "new" longer reg keys were put into place by Ronen, not Invincea back in v3.7x.
As of SBIE v3.76 does require that new key. We are on stable version 5.06. If you have Windows 10, you must use version 5 or better.
In fact, because of Windows updates in Oct, anything below v5.05 will not work.
Please email support@sandboxie.com with order details and the original 7 digit key. Those keys are linked to the newer 25 digit keys per Ronen. We can then get your the newer key for future installs.

@Craig,
You should run v5.06, the stable version. MS Updates as of Oct 2015 broke many things." If you have Windows 10, you must use version 5 or better."
I'm running Windows 7 Pro for now.
Windows 7 through Win 10, MS Update created chaos. V5.05 addressed that. You should use stable v5.06"In fact, because of Windows updates in Oct, anything below v5.05 will not work."
I'm assuming this sentence pertains only to Windows 10. Please advise if otherwise.
Yep. I'll access the ordering system Monday"Please email support@sandboxie.com with order details and the original 7 digit key. Those keys are linked to the newer 25 digit keys per Ronen. We can then get your the newer key for future installs."
Thank you. I just sent the email.
Same conditions apply as nothing has changed to pre-existing orders.I did not see an answer to my first question (Are the Personal Licenses that I purchased from Ronen Tzur being honored by the new owners of Sandboxie under the same marketing terms (i.e. lifetime on any mackines I own?)) Please advise.

In short:
1) Yes.
2) Use the same license key that you bought in 2011.
Longer version:
Install the latest version of Sandboxie on your new PC and use the 25 digits key to register. I own the old lifetime license as well and had no problems whatsoever with activating Sandboxie on all the PCs I own personally.

FWIW, I'm running 3.76 on a fully patch and updated Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with no problems. I'm stuck on this version until Kaspersky compatibility is regained with the latest version of Sandboxie.bs1 wrote:@Craig,

Re: New computer and Registration Key
v3.76 is woefully outdated. You will most likely run into a lot of issues with programs moving forward. It also lacks any security patches and updates to the scratch the surface as well as current programs (and their respective patch updates).
The Kaspersky issue will not be fixed. Unfortunately, That's something they would have to address, not Invincea as their program is the one causing the issues with compatibility.
