New Version Notification - Message For Tzuk

Post by TerryWood » Wed Aug 01, 2007 8:45 am

I and I am sure a lot of others are only aware of new versions if we assiduously peruse the posts.

A much better way would be if you reverted back to placing announcements in the announcement section of the forum.

Do you think this is possible?

Thanks

Terry

Soon it will be time for version 3.01, then you'll get an announcement.

Do you have anything new to say in this topic:

Hi Tzuk

Thanks for your reply. That will be most helpful. The pace of your new versions means I am having to run to keep up with you.

On the other topic (http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=1755)
I have not been testing sandboxed installs recently since our last post. This is because I have some other software problems I am trying to resolve. I hope to be in testing mode again shortly. I also think there is reasonable other evidence in the forums to suggest that there is other software that cannot run sandboxed.

Inso far as IceMirror is concerned you provided an explanation as to why it could not run sandboxed. Foxmail Beta 6-5 you have already accepted (I think) that there is a problem possibly with Sandboxie which you deferred until more time presents itself.

Hope this answers your query

This does not answer my query at all. You need to actually READ the linked topic.

Tzuk

You might be surprised, but I did read the linked topic ( the link you provided)

If you are referring to the DEP (Data Execution Prevention) I simply did not interpret your reply in the way you did.

If it is DEP you refer to, I have done nothing about it because I do not want to switch it off. This does nothing to devalue the advice given, it means I found another way to resolve my problem (Not through Sandboxie).

If have still not read your thoughts correctly

Please give me a hint so I can do justice.

Thanks

Terry

I think I get it now. TerryWood, perhaps you're missing an entire second page of posts, in that topic?

Hi Guys

"I see said the blind man to the deaf and dumb waiter who replied yes"

Thanks to Tzuk

Thanks to SND Phoenix who finally put the last brick in the wall.

NO I HAD NOT SEEN THIS LINK THAT EXPLAINS MY APPARENT STUPIDITY IN YOUR EYES (NOT OF COURSE IN MINE)

I am on version 10 and I will revert back when I have tried Foxmail.

Communication is the most underrated discipline...................

Thanks to everyone

To Tzuk

Foxmail 6 beta 5. Just tried it with Sandboxie version 3.00.10.

Exactly the same problem exhibiting as I reported in past posts.

In that it appears to install, then we get to the set up screen where one inputs all the smtp & pop protocol data. Then it freezes.

A forced shutdown job as before.

In the task manager 100s of "password" shown

I am going to have another go using just returnil (again) then I will repeat with Sandboxie

Thanks

Terry

I'm sorry you're still having problems. Let's compare results for a minute so we know we're on the same page.

Before I fixed it in version 3.00.09, I had the following experience:

Install Foxmail goes fine. At the end of the install, Foxmail starts, and then hangs immediately on start. The symptom of the hang is that Foxmail keeps creating more and more windows, and never stops, causing the system to lock up.

This also happens if Foxmail is started explictly from the Sandboxie Start Menu.

After I fixed the problem, in version 3.00.09, Foxmail starts fine, and I get a dialog box in Chinese that I can't figure out. I click the button and the program just quits.

Has you experience been anything like that?

The first part of your post I can recognise though I am not so sure about the creation of more & more windows. I can also agree with part of the second part of your post.

In that Foxmail appears to install OK. Where there is a slight difference between us is when , in your words, "I get a dialog box in Chinese that I can't figure out. I click the button and the program just quits. "

I do not confess to understand chinese but at the point you describe is where you input the pop/smtp parameters.

How do I know this? Because I have just done it for the second time using Returnil. Yes some educated guesswork is required.

Tzuk when I say this to you I AM NOT BEING A SMART ASS. If I fill in the first two elongated boxes in Returnil it moves me in in a smooth flow to full installation.

With Sandboxie (I cannot even remember the version when I first drew this to your attention) at the "I get a dialog box in Chinese that I can't figure out. ....." Sandboxie expires. It freezes. This is no different to what I explained to you in earlier posts.

There is a way of overwriting the Chinese language I think it is an ldb file. I did it the first time. but not the second. I read about it I think in a Wilders forum post.

Anyway, in summary I really don't see any improvement in v 10 ON THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE.

Hope this helps

Terry

OK ... Finally I figured it out. You have to type something with a "@" into the first input box, and this unlocks the Chinese "Next" button. I clicked that Next, got another password prompt that I clicked away, and Foxmail opened its main window. Looks a lot like Outlook Express. No freeze.

I did fix another looping-window-creation problem, though, so if you get a chance, TerryWood, please give the latest version 3.00.11 a try:

Tzuk

Using Version 11 tried Foxmail 6 beta 5 sandboxed. Works fine thanks.

Ps for the record if you delete the file chinese.lgb in the sandbox C:\Program Files\ Sandboxie

All will become clear (Its in English)

Thanks again its lookin' good

Terry
