Hello!
I wanted to test drive ACDSee and wanted to do it in a sandbox, in order to prevent leaving too many traces if I decide to uninstall it. However, during the installation I get an error message (below) and the install process is rolled back.
While I understand that the message suggests me to contact the software vendor (i.e. ACD), I wanted first to make sure this is something not related to Sandboxie. Can someone help me on that?
Thanks,
Alex

5.14 had a small glitch with msi installers. If you use Sandboxie 5.16, it should work.

I have SBIE 5.16 and also completed the installation of ACDSeePro successfully but when I tried to run the program in the sandbox it gave me an error message.

Re: Problems installing ACDSee
I didn't see any error messages when I tried launching it my VM. When does it occur for you? Can you do a copy of the errors if they are shown in the Sandboxie Control? Otherwise perhaps a screenshot from what ACDSee is complaining about? Are you using any particular AV?
Considering that it had at least one failed install attempt, could you try clearing the box contents and re-do the install and see if it still has errors upon launch? I'm wondering if something 'messed up' in the box during a previous install attempt that the re-install may not have resolved or overwritten.

Re: Problems installing ACDSee
Yep, it worked. I forgot that I recently dismissed an update request from Sandboxie. This was a proof that using the Sandbox is the way to go: after updating Sandboxie I tried to reinstall ACDSee. Despite the fact that after the botched installation it said it rolled the install back, I got now an error message stating that it cannot update the program and I have to remove the update (of an uninstalled program??). Cleared the sandbox and then it worked. So it definitely left some bits and pieces around, which otherwise would have clogged the system.Syrinx wrote:5.14 had a small glitch with msi installers. Now I could both install and use the program. Whether I'll keep it or not will be decided later.
Thanks!
