BSOD when using McAfee + MWBs + Web Browser
I have version 5.20 64 bit installed on WIndows 10 Pro version 1607 Build 14393.0. Everything has always worked fine until 2 days ago -- now whenever I try to open any browser sandboxed the PC blue screens. I am using IE 11.0.14393.0 and Firefox 54.0.1. Opening either browser in the sandbox consistently crashes and blue screens the PC. System File Check shows no errors. I have run CCleaner, uninstalled the most recent Windows updates, disabled antivirus (McAfee LiveSafe -- also disabled McAfee Web advisor) uninstalled and reinstalled Sandboxe, and gone back to an earlier Sandboxie build all to no avail. No new programs installed before problem occurred. The rest of the PC appears to be running fine. Any help would be appreciated -- thanks in advance.

Re: Browser crashes and PC blue screens
Hello lampeyjoe,
Does your computer work fine if the browsers are launched outside Sandboxie?
What's the error code of the BSOD?
Please provide a copy of your dump file so that the devs can have a look. They are typically located under C:\Windows ---> memory.dmp
Have you tried a new Sandbox with default settings to see if the problem occurs there?
Has anything changed on your PC, any updates to your browsers, extensions, antivirus, OS...? How about hardware changes?
Any chance you have "*" open in WinClass?
Regards,
Barb.-

Re: Browser crashes and PC blue screens
This happened to me, just today. I always start Chrome with Sandboxie (version 5.20 RC), and when I came back from lunch, I saw the Blue Screen. Restarting my computer, I tried loading Chrome by itself - no problem. The with Sandboxie - Blue Screen. Ran CC Cleaner - no help, I Blue screened again, cleaned again and just running Chrome without Sandboxie.
Windows 10 Home, Version 1703 Build 15063.483
I have had no problems at all with the Creators Update and Sandboxie 5.20 RC until today. Odd.

Hello HAMsmoke,
Can you please see my response to the previous user and provide the required information so that we can see what might be going on?
Are you using any antivirus software?

Re: Browser crashes and PC blue screens
I will try loading Chrome using Sandboxie a bit later to get the memory dump and error code. As far as antivirus software, I have been running a combination of McAfee and Malwarebytes with absolutely no issues for the last 6 weeks or so. I really doubt that is it. No new hardware or software either.
MERGED POST
Barb: It is a REFERENCE_BY_POINTER error. The memory dump is rather large, how should I get that to you?

BSOD error code 0xc0000225
memory.dmp files here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ssvyfxh2py92 ... NTC4a?dl=0
Same problem with new Sandbox with default settings -- all browsers blue screen the PC everytime they are launched Sandboxed.
Thanks

I will reach out to the devs to review the dmp file.

You will need to upload the dump file to a file sharing website and provide the link.

Re: Browser crashes and PC blue screens
Update - problem is resolved. I completely uninstalled McAfee using the McAfee software removal tool and sandboxed browsers open fine now. Looks like McAfee recently updated and apparently that was causing the problem. Even with the antivirus turned off and Webadvisor add-ons turned off I was still getting PC crashes whenever I opened sandboxed browsers. With McAfee completely uninstalled everything works fine.
Thanks
Thanks
BSOD when opening Sandboxie 5.20, 5.18
Sandboxie 5.20 has been running fine for quite a while. All of a sudden now when I try and open Sandboxie it crashes the computer, does a reboot into Safe Mode asking to restart Normally.
When computer restarts, it runs fine until I again try and open Sandboxie, with the same results as stated above.
I went to control panel and uninstalled Sandboxie, restarted computer and then down loaded a new copy of 5.20 and installed it.
Again, as soon as I tried to open Sandboxie, computer responded with a reboot and entering in Safe Mode.
How do I fix something to allow Sandboxie to run again?
Thank you

Hello gritty,
Does this happen when you launch a browser?
Do you have McAfee installed?
What is your OS version?
What's the error code of the BSOD?

Re: Browser crashes and PC blue screens
I too use McAfee, and yes it was recently updated - but I think Sandboxie was working after the update to McAfee. I will have to try uninstalling and see what happens.
Re: Browser crashes and PC blue screens
I used the McAfee removal tool downloadable here: http://us.mcafee.com/apps/supporttools/mcpr/mcpr.asp
Everything has run perfectly since getting rid of McAfee. The problem for me definitely began after the McAfee update. Using AVG now.

All,
The devs have found some references to MalwareBytes in the dmp files.
Can you confirm if you have MalwareBytes and what version?

Re: Browser crashes and PC blue screens
I uninstalled McAfee and replaced it with Kaspersky Internet Security - and now I can run Chrome sandboxed. As for Malwarebytes, yes, I have version 3.1.2 installed. With my current configuration, I have a different problem that I will describe in another post - as for this particular problem, I feel it was McAfee updates that caused the issue.
