Funny thing I just noticed. I did a google search on this site and also re-read the Sandboxie license. Nowhere on this site or in the license can I find any claim that Sandboxie is "freeware." There are several places where the software is described as free -- which it certainly is -- but arguing about definitions of "freeware" seems silly when Tzuk has not, as far as I can find, ever made that claim.evermore wrote:Freeware = totally free, no crippled features, no expiration, no nags about donations or purchasing. Postcardware is a form of freeware too. Even adware is freeware as long as it doesn't ask you to register all the time.
Shareware = can become disabled/crippled after trial period, or begin nagging even if it doesn't break
There's plenty of software that has a registered version and a free but partially crippled version, which may include things like a nag screen with a timer before you can run the program. Those aren't freeware, they're more like demonstrations, inducements to buy the full version. Sandboxie is just like other shareware, you can test out the program for 30 days before it starts nagging, the trial version doesn't have all the features of the registered version. And like many others, you can continue using it past the trial period but there's a nag screen. Because you give permission to ignore the nag screen doesn't make it freeware.
Since there's no mention that it will begin nagging after 30 days, it's even more annoying.
Now let's start ignoring the immature, cheap jerks who come here, make no contribution to help others, choose to use this great product free through Tzuk's generosity, and then want to stomp their feet and complain because someone they never met doesn't give them the product of his work without a gentle reminder about registering.
Such jerks don't deserve our time.
