Firefox process won't shut down when shutting down Firefox.

Windows 7 Home 64bit; Sandboxie latest registered version 4.06 (64bit); Firefox latest version 26; NoScript latest version;

Firefox won't start up again after exiting Firefox. I get a popup saying that Firefox is already running. I have to go to Task Manager and end Firefox process. Then, I can restart Firefox. At first, it seemed to have something to do with a Firefox extension...NoScript..but the problem also occurred with other extensions run singly or in combination with others. With no extensions, the problem didn't seem to happen...I could exit and start FF many times without the problem. I set up FF in Sandboxie "forced folders"..and then "forced programs"...and then tried with only "Force Firefox to run in this sandbox(Registered version only)". Each time I thought I had fixed the problem but eventually the problem reoccurred. I also found that with NoScript in FF: if I would open FF and connect to a web site, then exit FF, I was able to restart FF ok over and over again, providing I connected to a web site each time, without ever getting the problem. This worked, also, if I turned off my modem/router and started my Xampp/Apache and did localhost. It cleared the problem. I also found that all I had to do was delete the contents of the Sandboxie DefaultBox, after the problem occurred. That cleared the problem without having to go to Task Manager to end the FF process. I tried to run Sysinternals Procmon monitoring Firefox only and tried various conditions..then turning FF on/off but I really don't know, yet, what to look for. When the problem happens, I see Hive stuff in Sandboxie Control that I don't know anything about..that all gets deleted when I Delete Contents.

You can try to fix this by setting Firefox as a leader program. By the way, I use NoScript, it gets along well with Sandboxie.

Thanks for replying and for your suggestion. Ok, I'll try that. I did, however, try putting FF in the Lingering Programs, hoping it would shut down FF even if another program was keeping it from shutting down.... and that seemed to fix the problem...for a while..till the problem returned. I also tried creating a new sandbox and only enabled FF in Applications/Web Browser/firefox and disabled firefox settings in the original DefaultBox. That didn't work...the problem was the same.

I tried setting FF as a "leader" program and that doesn't fix the problem. The problem still exists if I put FF in either "leader" or "Lingering" or both at the same time. The problem still exists if I just disable NoScript. I have to delete or uninstall it so that I have no extensions before this problem seems to disappear. In fact, I am going to do that right now, again, to make sure that is the case. This has been a somewhat intermittent problem but happens most of the time.

I configured FF for no Sandboxie, uninstalled NoScript, restarted/exited FF 20 times in rapid succession with no problems. Then I configured FF for Sandboxie protection again and the problem occurred at try number 8. Before, with both Noscript and Sandboxie, I usually couldn't go for more than twice...usually only once... before it would fail.
