Programs running Sandboxed

Post by SEGMAT » Fri Jul 13, 2007 10:52 am

Hello, I'm new to Sandboxie, I like it but I have some questions. I know that the default browser or any browser for that matter has to be run sandboxed for security reasons. However, what other programs need to be sandboxed. What about Media Players, Notepad, Calculator, Windows Explorer, CD/DVD burning software, etc. Most of these don't seem to need sandboxing because they don't do much that could cause a security threat. However, maybe it's safer to run them sandboxed, I don't know.

Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

One very important program would be your email program, since many bad things can come from messages.
The nice thing about running your email program sandoxed, is that if there's a media file attached to a message, when you open the media file by double-clicking the attachment, your media player is automatically run sandboxed too. It opens as a child window to your email program, and therefore is automatically sandboxed.
Personally, I wouldn't worry about the other programs you mentioned.
