Block internetconnection for each separate sandbox

Post by deugniet » Thu Jan 24, 2013 7:41 am

A request for a feature to block the internetconnection for each separate sandbox. Like via Sandboxie Control, rightclick a sandbox and select "block internetconnection".

Wrong forum but I can't post forum Feature requests: Sorry, but only administrators can post topics in this forum.

What makes you believe that you can't block Internet Access on a per-sandbox basis right now, using:
Sandbox Settings > Restrictions > Internet Access

@Guest10

I know Sandbox Settings > Restrictions > Internet Access.

When Í'm surfing sandboxed online I sometimes do not want to be connected (for a while). That's why I requested this feature.

Just tested "Block All programs" while surfing with Firefox, but Sandboxie doesnt block my browser connecting to the internet (same session). I can still browse despite "Block All Programs".

Got an error, don't know if its related to Block All Programs: SBIE2203 Failed to communicate with Sandboxie Service: *GUIPROXY_00000001 - firefox.exe [00000102]

Edit: found SBIE2203 (http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?SBIE2203)

I take it you mean that you turned on "Blocked All Programs" while an instance of Firefox was running in the sandbox? It doesn't work this way, I'm afraid. You will need some firewall for this kind of flexibility.

As for the error, this is a problem with something in version 4.01. I am still fixing things so hopefully when I release the next beta version, it will take care of this error as well.

Thanks Tzuk for the answer.

I take it you mean that you turned on "Blocked All Programs" while an instance of Firefox was running in the sandbox? > yes.

I'll use the Work offline-option of Firefox: File > Work Offline.

Shame I didn't see this sooner

Use the program Turn Internet Off
http://crystalrich.com/internetoff/

It's a freeware and it works perfectly with Sandboxie (As some applications will not work sandboxed if the internet is blocked but with this tool they will work normaly)

Does one really need some 2Mb third-party software simply to connect/disconnect?
It takes just a couple of seconds...

Even my oldie PCTools Firewall Plus has 'Allow All -- Ask -- Block All' modes...

Also it can be quite easily implemented via proxy-settings.
