Hi,
Until now I am surfing under control of a special non-admin user (called surf),
starting firefox with runas /u:surf in the desktop icon.
Now having discovered the sandboxie tool I am wondering if
this method of sandboxing is preferable to the surf-account solution!?

Apples and oranges really.
If you run your browser sandboxed, but as admin, then your browser still has admin privileges. No software is perfect and there is the possibility something could get past the sandbox, and it would still have admin rights once it did.
However, you could run firefox both sandboxed AND limited, and it would be better than doing either one alone.
