Problems with SB in Firefox 50 with Emoji fonts

Post by small.b » Wed Nov 16, 2016 7:31 am

I'm german and sorry for my bad english.

Windows 7 pro 64BIT
Sandboxie 5.14
Firefox 50
Emsisoft Anti Malware
...everything up to date!

After updating Firefox to version 50 at the start in Sandboxie following message appears:
SB-Emoji fonts.JPG
SB-Emoji fonts.JPG (30.63 KiB) Viewed 1475 times
The help button doesn't help me since I don't understand it. If you press 'Hide' or 'Close', the message disappears and it continues normally. I think it comes from Firefox because in the release notes of Firefox 50 is the following:
Sandboxie Fehler.JPG
Sandboxie Fehler.JPG (14.48 KiB) Viewed 1475 times
What shell or what can I do?

Thank you in advance!

Written with Google Translate. Sorry.

Hello small.b,

Does Firefox work fine when you launch it outside the Sandbox?
Can you try launching it from a new Sandbox and let us know if you still receive the error?
Also, please check if this is active --> Right click on your Sandbox --> Sandbox Settings --> Applications --> Security/Privacy --> Add Emsisoft

Regards.

Firefox works fine outside SB.
The error is not when I get a new SB.
Emsisoft is added:

I have the same problem. Vista x64. No Emisoft software. Same error with a new sandbox. No problems (AFAIK) outside sandboxie.

Do you have OpenFilePath=C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox?
Are you running with UAC disabled?
Have you tried just ignoring the error?

No.
No.
Yes. Normal sandboxed browsing seems fine, but can't tell if the newly introduced Emojis are working in FF (sandboxed or not), as for the life of me I can't find how to test them.

Not a feature I'd really use though, so I just backed up and then deleted the EmojiOneMozilla.ttf file in the Firefox directory.

No more SBIE2205 error.

Same for me.
I think the emojis are working despite the error: I see them on instagram; with previous versions of firefox I couldn't see them. Not sure anyway.

No more SBIE2205 error.
Yes, it works. If I delete the font EmojiOne Mozilla.ttf in C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\fonts the problem is gone.

Great!

The same problem here.

Just a question to the staff of Sandboxie:

Is there a chance that Sandboxie can (respectively intends to) fix this problem? It' s good to know that it helps to delete the font but surely it is not the ideal solution to remove a file that obviously is (now) a regular part of Firefox. Especially because this would probably be necessary from now on by every update of Firefox.

So it would be fine if Sandboxie could solve the issue in a definitive way. Thanks in advance for your efforts.

There really isn't a problem. This is just a warning message. You can ignore it. There is no need to delete the TTF.

I see. I can hide the message SBIE 2205 without security risk.

Thanks for the clarification.
