Curt@invincea wrote:Uwe, it looks like you are using the subsilver2 board style. I set mine to that style, in user ctrl-panel, disabled smilies and BBCode by default, and disabled displaying these by default as well. I have attached a screen shot of what you should be seeing. Have you tried switching to another board style?
Curt,
sorry but you are right and wrong at the same time. Yes, for the first screenshot I used board style subsilver2 - and NO in my profile BBCode and smilies were enabled.

And here is the screenshot from the same post-editing with board style prosilver_sbie, BBCode and smilies enabled in my profile, too.

Uwe, what I meant was, even if you set the defaults to off in your control panel they STILL show up. I can't get them to go away. :)
For some reason, for you and a few other people, the forum behaves as though smilies are disabled globally for the entire forum. Perhaps a bad cookie is installed on your machine. Can you clear out your webcache, cookies, etc.? If that doesn't work, try another browser. You can also try creating a new forum user to see if it is something in your user settings that is messed up. :?:

Take a look in the settings under User Control Panel and Board Settings. You can change the defaults there.

I changed the e-mail associated with my profile yesterday and it said I would receive a confirmation e-mail that I would need to confirm the new e-mail address but I never received anything.

Yeah in Profile > Account Settings it shows my updated e-mail and since I posted I have been receiving e-mail updates for threads that I'm subscribed to (missed not having this feature in the past). I never received any e-mail confirmation so I guess they either fixed it for me specifically or that confirmation required message is erroneous.

Cannot search for important keywords

Post by espresso » Mon Jul 21, 2014 9:47 am

When I try to search for a topic, the forum says that all the words used are common words and I need to enter different words. No search results appear. I tried searching for both of these phrases:

Start/Run Access
All programs can start and run

I need information about the Start/Run Access settings, but there is no way to search for posts related to this topic. Please change this behavior in the forum software. The words I searched for should be indexed by the forum software.

I disabled the common words threshold search feature because it seems to create more annoyance than anything useful.

Hi. Might I suggest that for the poor newbies who are either screen-reader users like myself, or get distracted and miss it, you somehow postpone the redirect a bit longer after someone submits a post? The first time I posted my screen reader was plunked at the bottom of the page. By the time I got to the top and jumped down to look for a message saying my topic had been posted, there was no such thing. I couldn't find my post either. I went to "view your posts", and no results were found. So I hit the back button and resubmitted the post. This time I was a bit faster and read the message saying my post was submitted, but awaiting moderation. As soon as I read that, it was gone, replaced by the main page of the subforum I was on. If you must redirect the page automatically instead of the usual click OK to continue, a good 40 second delay would be good. A screen reader only reads a page one line at a time, though you can skip a lot of junk by jumping by headings or lists or other markers. But you have to learn the layout of the page first before you can find things quickly on a new site.

Funny thing I've noticed...

From Firefox. Forum Logout will drop to Login upon message Submit. Not always but, often enough to be a PITA

Funny thing is if I do not allow sandboxie.com scripts by NoScript. Issue goes away.

From Chrome. Forum Logout will drop to Login upon message Submit. Not always but, often enough to be a PITA

Funny thing is if I do not allow sandboxie.com scripts by ScriptBlock. Issue goes away.

Anyone else...? Just me...?

Update: Same problem for me from Chrome. Upon Submit. I'm logged out and have to re-post as there's no auto save.
Anyone else...? I thought work around was to not allow sandboxie.com scritps. That seemed to hold login. But, I need scripts for editor functions.
Now, even with scripts blocked. I'm logged out. Not every time but, often enough to be a PITA. I'll allow first party / block third party.

Any ideas...?
I've on my third Submit attempt.

I think it is time to create a new section in the forum where to put old beta threads, at least from 4.01 up to 4.15.

I second this suggestion. I was thinking about the same 2 days ago.
