I am sure this was talked to death already, but I just can't find it...
1) How do I move an installed program out of a sandbox to main system; and
2) How do I move an installed program between sandboxes?
I.e., let's say I use a "default" sandbox to install new stuff. Which I keep an eye on, and if I decide it's ok, want to migrate to either unsandboxed part of my system, or into a different sandbox along with all the data/settings it has accumulated in its registry. In part, to clean the sandbox on a more or less regular basis, in part, to have some "combos" of programs assembled in specific boxes.
Now, I know I can move files easily. What completely stumps me is how to move registry entries and how to determine which drivers/whatever belong where?
TIA

Re: Moving programs out of the sandbox
AFAIK it´s not possible to move installed programs out of a sandbox to main system or between sandboxes automatically.
You could copy files out or between sandboxes but you still miss registry keys. You could try to export registry keys and then import them but it can be a task difficult to accomplish correctly.

Re: Moving programs out of the sandbox
We may be talking apples and oranges here, but I have had success testing programs and then moving them out of the sandbox onto my backup hard drive for later use. The process results in the creation of quasi "portable" versions of the programs. The typical scenario I'm describing involves (a) downloading a program (two frequented sites are The Portable Freeware Collection and GiveAwayOfTheDay) into a sandbox, (b) testing the program while sandboxed, (c) configuring the program the way I like it, and (d) recovering all the files from the sandbox to my backup hard drive. When I want to run the program, I access my backup hard drive, locate the .exe, right click it and select "run sandboxed". Throughout much of the process (from the initial download and testing phase to the running of the .exe from my backup hard drive), everything remains sandboxed, resulting in, presumably, a cleaner system.CheeseshireCat wrote:I am sure this was talked to death already, but I just can't find it...

moving programs out of sandbox
I found the way to move programs out. It's easy, once you know where to find the program.
Sandbox stores programs in C:/Sandbox/Owner/DefaultBox/Drive/C ...At least that is where it is in mine. I suppose the "Owner" part will be different depending on your setup.

The files are only one part. You still miss the registry entries.thebends43201 wrote:I found the way to move programs out. It's easy, once you know where to find the program.
