Good suggestion Peter, I am having a very hard time distinguishing one post from the next one

I've tweaked the background color on alternating posts. Let me know what you think.

Spam persists.

I suggest again that people with less than a certain number of messages, let's say 10, can not post directly to the forum and their messages must be allowed by moderators.

I just set this up and it caught one post in the moderation queue within the first minute.

@Alan and Buster,
I have long thought about it, but that looks to me like censorship.

To keep out spam from the forum, it would be quite sufficient to have a watchful eye as a moderator on the forum.

The suggested method of Buster would interfere with the message flow.

Alan or would you take care 24/7 of the forum?

To remove spam every few days would be enough, or what do you think?

As long as Ronen Tzuk the forum has led, there was never visible spam problems, even without the way proposed by Buster.

Hi Alan,

is it possible to get another board-style like "prosilver_sbie" but with the posters metadata on the left, maybe called "prosilver_sbie_left"

That would be more similar to the old, familiar side-view, but with more modern colors.

To my mind the new forum is clearly better for the eyes than the old one: a better contrast, and so it is much more comfortable to view and to read. :D

A small suggestion (in order to increase this positive effect):
Within a thread it would be useful if there were a stronger optical distinction between two postings. I am aware that they already have two different types of background colour (a darker and a brighter blue). But I would appreciate if there were additionally for example a small but clear black horizontal line between two postings (there where is now the small white space).
I agree and was thinking the same thing. I'll see what I can do to make it more readable.

I too, would appreciate if there were additionally a small but clear black horizontal line between two postings.

And besides, as you can see, the color-difference in the quotings is not large enough.

Alan,
is it possible to have a back-link to the post, from a Quoting?
Have a nice day ...

I just installed Oxygen. You might like that one. If you find a style you like at https://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/, I'll install it so you can customize your account. I am not good enough with html and css to make the mods myself.

I was deleting 5-10 per day before upgrading to phpBB3. Between Curt, Joohwan, and I, we deleted around 100 spam posts yesterday. The moderation queue will help keep them from your view.

Using Oxygen as the forum board style now. Much better as each post is divided.

Thanks for the option to do this :)

(anyone wanting to know where the option to change is... it's under 'user control panel' then the board preferences tab and then 'my board style')

opera,
with this you are indeed right, but where in the board-style "Oxygen" are time and date of the posts?

Thanks for this advice. So I for myself changed now to the board style "subsilver2" with which I am quite satisfied.

Alan, thank you too for your interest in my suggestion and your help.

With "Oxygen" I cannot see it too.

alan@invincea and Peter 123,
Thanks for the info. After checking nearly all styles found at "https://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/" I will use "subsilver2"-style.

It is the best for my eyes, that I could find.

alan@invincea,
Maybe you like to exchange the "subsilver2"-style head with the Sandboxie forum-head, as you did in the "prosilver_sbie"-style. :?: :!:

I find the new colour scheme difficult to read and take in the content of posts.

Oxygen seems the best of a bad bunch  The index pages are hard to read but at least posts are legible.

[Edit] Make that subsilver2. They are all appalling in one way or another!

I get "You do not have the required permissions to read topics within this forum." when I try to see "Beta Version 4.09" forum.
