Sandboxie turns off EPM & 64-bit content processes on IE

Post by jw72253 » Thu Feb 28, 2013 1:35 am

I have 64-bit Sandboxie 3.76 installed on a 64-bit Windows 7 OS with Internet Explorer 10, the full version of which, not the pre-release version, has now been released by Microsoft. It is my understanding, which I do not claim to be infallible, of the current IE browser technology that on my system, such as described above, Sandboxie, which is incompatible with IE Protected Mode and turns it off, is now also unable to allow (i.e., incompatible with) 64-bit content processes from running in the browser because these processes require Enhanced Protected Mode to be enabled for them to run. Is that not so? Again, this is the situation for 64-bit IE 10 on Windows 7.

What's more, on Windows 8, since EPM is required also to enable the browser's newer technology functionality called AppContainer, using Sandboxie on IE 10 in it would effectively disable this additional security feature as well as the 64-bitness of content processes. Is there any reason to believe that these consequences are detrimental and should be addressed soon?

The pen is mightier than the sword, but only if you get in the first stroke.
