5.04 and Outlook and More!

Post by Professor_Maxxx » Thu Oct 01, 2015 4:03 pm

1. Please specify if Sandboxie 5.04 and later will ONLY support Outlook 2010 and later. I need to know if I have to upgrade my 2007 Outlook.

2. Is there a release note associated with the new release of Sandboxie, stating the versions of browsers, email clients, Anti Virus tools, etc that were successfully tested with the new version? It will be a great time saver if a table pops up indicating this information when one installs the new version of Sandboxie. Just a suggestion.

Thank you!

We've tested SBIE with the newest version of FF, Chrome, Opera, IE, Cyberfox and other browsers. SBIE also supports Windows XP - Win10. Antivirus tools that are confirmed to work (or need some configuring) are listed here http://forums.sandboxie.com/phpBB3/view ... 11&t=21539 (although this applies to Win10 mainly, but still applicable.) MS Office Suite 2010, 2013 also works. Office 365 or Office click-to- install options are not supported at this time.

We don't do any testing on Office 2010 or below. Although, there are some postings in the forum stating it does work, others stating they've run into issues.

SBIE when installed will prompt a window for software compatibly and adjust accordingly. You can also view this via Sandboxie control > Applications......We can't possible try everything. :D

The known application conflicts with SBIE page has been updated. Here http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?KnownConflicts

Each version will always have a change log posted.

As for a pop up window. Probably not, that just overly complicates coding. I can't think of any software that does this other than a general listing it works/compatible with Windows XXX and maybe state "Compatible with Office XXX."

Thank you for your prompt response.

1. It appears that I have to upgrade to Outlook 2010 going forward to be on the safe side. You stated "MS Office Suite 2010, 2013 also works." and then you said "We don't do any testing on Office 2010 or below." I am assuming you meant you don't do any testing on any Ms office version below 2010. Correct me if I misunderstood the statements.

2. You stated "SBIE when installed will prompt a window for software compatibly and adjust accordingly." Does this refer to first time installation or when upgrading? I have not seen such window being prompt. Viewing this in my system shows "Windows and Office Licensing Services". Is this the same as Windows and Office versions?

3. If you can implement " a general listing it works/compatible with Windows XXX and i]"Compatible with Office XXX."[/i][/quote]" it would be great IMHO.

4. I will definitely review all the available information that you stated before installing an update.

Thank you again and appreciate all the great work that you and the rest of the team do.

Maxxx

1.Correct, Generally we don't test versions of MS Office below the 2010 version
2.Well, that's already listed on the website & as well most 3rd party download locations. XP through Win10 is noted there. I don't see us adding any more stuff to that code. You already get a compatibility window when installed. Plus, info from the forum http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?Freq ... quirements
3. It's easier to list things SBIE may have issues with, than known compatibility. We may list programs "x" in testing, but user "y" can't get it to work. Give the vast configuration/software options that everyone has on a Windows machine. But, on the website, it is mentioned what the generic type of software supported is. http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?Freq ... s#Problems under what programs can I run?

Thanks!
