When I clicked on "about google chrome" in order to run an update, the update failed, when Chrome was sandboxed. But it succeeded when Chrome was not sandboxed.
Is this normal behavior?
manual update for Chrome
Re: manual update for Chrome
Hi shmu26, for security reasons, browsers are not allowed to update in the sandbox. You do the updates unsandboxed, make sure they are applied by restarting the browser unsandboxed, and then go back to the sandbox.

Thanks. The Chrome automatic update will still work, right?
Re: manual update for Chrome
Chrome automatic update is gonna work outside the sandbox. But the best way to handle browser updates with Sandboxie is to disable automatic updating or the function to automatically check for updates. And then when an update is available, you run the browser unsandboxed, update it, restart the browser unsandboxed to apply the update. And then go back to the sandbox. If you dont set contents of the sandbox to delete automatically, then you should delete contents manually before running the new version of the browser in the sandbox.

What is the best way to keep yourself notified, when Chrome issues an update?
Re: manual update for Chrome
I use Firefox and have set Firefox never to check for updates. I had it that way pretty much since the time when I started using SBIE. You go to forums and read, is easy to know when an update is out. I usually know an update is coming days before the update is released. And usually wait a few days to update Firefox after the update is out.
