[.01] VS2012 Express: crash when starting the installation

Post by g00fy » Wed May 15, 2013 1:56 am

Sandboxie version: 3.81.03 (64 bit)
Windows: 7 home premium (64 bit)
Download link: http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/e ... 12-express: Scroll down and take the blue box 'Visual Studio 2012 Express for Windows Desktop'. Take the first download option (webinstall)

* I just created a completely clean new Sandbox for testing this program out, so nothing should interfer with it.
* Right click "wdexpress_full.exe" & "Run Sandboxed".
==> Crash...

I just tried the same under Sandboxie 4.01.08 (64bit)
There I get a messagebox with:
Could not invoke program:

"...\wdexpress_full.exe"

System Error Code:

Access is denied.
(5)
And a Sandboxie message log with this text:
SBIE2335 Initialization failed for process wdexpress_full.exe [33 / 487]

Can you please double check the version of Sandboxie that you quoted?

The installation took a very, very, very long time, ~8 hours. Following this The asking which kind of help option you want came up, upon making a selection it never completed, ~12 hours.

It is a default sandbox outside of drop my rights being unchecked for installation.

I am using Windows 2012 Server.

Is this a common problem with other people too?

Not at all.

The only time that you should have a problem installing a program in a sandbox is when the program needs to install a service or a driver. This is something that Sandboxie doesn't allow.

I installed VS 2012 in a sandbox to address a couple of other issues. It took 20-30 minutes to complete and seems to work ok.
