Configuration Password

Post by Annonymous » Sun Aug 26, 2012 1:33 pm

So I made the silly mistake of forgetting my Sandboxie configuration password (haven't messed around with the settings for months, and should've written down the random alphanumeric password)...

At this point, would the correct procedure be for me to uninstall and reinstall the program?

Thanks for any help.

I didn't test it but to remove password you could try following method:

"Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services >> Sandboxie Service > Stop" than edit C:\Windows\sandboxie.ini.

SBIE 5.12.0, Win 7 Ult SP1+ 64-bit, CIS 8.4, HMPA 3.1

Hey, thanks for the reply.

So assuming the password has to do with sandboxie.ini, would my initial thought of uninstalling and reinstalling the program still be valid, given that I will delete sandboxie.ini when I uninstall? (I haven't done a lot of tweaking, so losing my settings would be fine.)

I will probably go ahead and just re-install, but I'm just worried that I'll be prompted to enter the same password once I do it.

Again, if I can get rid of the password by deleting sandboxie.ini when I uninstall the program, I don't see any problem with reinstalling, but I'd appreciate it if someone could confirm this as I'm curious.
