update ff inside sandboxie

Post by boxthis » Thu Oct 15, 2015 9:27 pm

http://www.sandboxie.com/?FirefoxTips...DOES NOT WORK. Disable; update outside of sandboxie; update fails when starting ff inside sandboxie.....

How do I upgrade (not delete/restore) my current instance of firefox running inside of sandboxie?

Command line syntax is fine.

Thanks in advance.

Any update or changes to FF settings should be done OUTSIDE of the sandbox for the changes to take place. Once done, then open in SBIE.

Updating sandboxed Firefox via About Firefox>Check for updates will always fail. Sandboxie doesnt allow the update to be applied. But, if you installed Firefox in a sandbox that you are keeping from being deleted when you close Firefox, you can upgrade Firefox in that sandbox by running the new versions installer in the same sandbox where you originally installed Firefox. That is something you should be able to do.

Firefox will update while sandboxed and it will take effect as of the last time I went to 41.0.2. Chrome does too, but it fails just as many times as it works. But by habit, I do all of that outside of SBIE.....

Installing directly in SBIE and updating does work also. But the same quirks with chrome exist there too. (I've seen it more troublesome In Win 10)
