Firefox default search engine changes when sandboxed

Post by henryg » Mon May 07, 2018 5:05 am

I changed my Firefox default search engine to Startpage, and used the search add-in to save my preferences without cookies. Non-sandboxed it works as expected, but sandboxed the default search engine reverts to Google every time?

I have cleared all sandboxes and restarted my pc; tried a newly created default sandbox; and tried dropped and and non-dropped rights. Whenever Firefox is sandboxed the default search reverts to Google!

Sandboxie 5.25.2; Firefox x64 60.0; Windows 10 x64 1803 (17134.1) fully updated.

Hello henryg ,

I found a Startpage HTTPS Privacy Search engine, add-on. Is that what you are using?
I am having no issues changing the search engine to that, I also added the search bar and it works fine inside and outside Sandboxie.

My steps: (I am using the stable version 59.03 - 64 bit)
Open Firefox outside Sbie
Go to Options --> Search --> Find more search engines
Added the StartPage HTTPS add-on
Went back to Search and set the Default Search Engine to Startpage HTTPS
On top of Default engine, under "Search bar", I clicked on the "Add search bar in toolbar;
Tested that both url and search bar redirected to startpage.
Close Firefox.
Launch FF sandboxed and confirm both url and search bar redirect to startpage.

Can I get a copy of your configuration file?
Configure--> Edit configuration
Copy paste the contents here.
Highlight the contents and hit the "</> button in the forums to format it.

I'll get FF 60 and post an update soon. ---> UPDATE--> No difference when using FF beta 60

Regards,
Barb.-
