Attribute error SBIE messages to a specific sandbox

Post by cornflake » Sat Nov 15, 2014 5:30 pm

At any one time I have several sandboxes running and occasionally I'll see something like this:
SBIE2314 Canceling process updater.exe
I need to know the sandbox associated with that action, there is not enough verbosity there. Thanks

Not much help but whenever I see the "Canceling process" message it usually follows the cause.. Example:

SBIE1308 Program cannot start due to restrictions - Programname.exe [SBIExplorer] <--sandbox name
SBIE2222 To add the program...
SBIE2314 Cancelling process programname.exe...

Thanks, I usually see that too but not always. If a process is canceled it should list what sandbox is the origin. I would change the messages to a format like this:

timestamp [Sandbox] SBIE1308 Program cannot start due to restrictions - Programname.exe
timestamp [Sandbox] SBIE2222 To add the program...
timestamp [Sandbox] SBIE2314 Cancelling process programname.exe...

I support this suggestion...

Agreed, I'd like to see that format also.

SBIEXXXX errors not identifying offending sandbox

Post by TerryH » Wed Jan 25, 2017 11:32 pm

Hi
As a paid user running multiple sandboxes, It's been observed that sandboxie error windows , for example SBIEXXXX etc..... doesn't display the sandbox in which an error was triggered.

The error messages don't indicate which sandbox (or program) was the cause of, or triggered the error in the sandboxie service.

It's a problem when trying to diagnose problems with sandboxie compatability and malware defences.

Is there anyway to get sandboxie error messages to indicate which sandbox (or even better, which program) causes the error?

Thanks!

Hello TerryH,

Here's how it currently works:
https://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?Mes ... mSandboxie

Most times, SBIE Messages are triggered after a specific action, that should help you figuring out what happened and how to reproduce it.

(I merged your post with this topic as this is a feature request).

Barb.-

This is not as easy as it sounds.

1) Many error msgs are not associated with sandboxes.
2) Error msgs can originate in the Sbie driver, services, SbieDll, or SbieCtrl. When the error occurs, the sender of the error may not know which sandbox is involved.

If you have specific error msgs in mind, I will look into them. But SBIE1308 already contains the sandbox name, as do several other error msgs.
