[.04] SBIE2102 on IE startup "WebCacheV01.dat"

Post by Stobar » Sat Jan 19, 2013 10:28 am

V 3.76 (64-bit) Registered.

Windows 8 (64-bit). IE 10

Recently, whenever I start a new IE session from an empty default box (forced SB on startup) I get multiples of the following 2102 error:

SBIE2102 File is too large to copy into sandbox - WebCacheV01.dat [DefaultBox / 71368704]
SBIE2223 To increase the file size limit for copying files, please double-click on this message line

Anyone know what this file is and why it needs to be copied - do I just keep enlarging the file size limit?

*EDIT*

These two links explain a bit... seems like IE 10 handles history different to previous versions:

For the record, I tried installing Firefox and Chrome, but had the same problem. Which means that the webcache dat file is not just used for IE... so then I turned off "Allow website caches and Databases" under Control Panel > Internet Options > Browsing History > Settings > Caches and Databases. After a restart, although the file is still showing up as being accessed on a daily basis, it isn't causing a problem.

Any further info would be appreciated.

I thought the new WebCache system was a Windows 8 thing that was intended to share data between Metro and desktop apps. Interesting to learn that it may be there on Windows 7 too (with IE 10). I'll look into it.

I am not a techie, but I figure out that you have the "save website" history set too high. Set it to 30 days and all will be OK.

[Bumping post] Confirming the issue is still present on Win7 systems since upgrading from IE9 to IE10, with Sandboxie 3.76.

In version 4.01.04, I added those WebCache files to a list of special files which ignore the sandbox copy limit.
This means these messages should no longer occur.
