ASK WINDOWS to start the browser SANDBOXED as default browser[CLOSED]

Post by JASON789 » Thu Feb 08, 2018 4:22 am

Windows version : Windows 10 Home 1709 - 16299.214
Sandboxie version : 5.23.3 (64-bit)
Antivirus : Avira Antivirus pro 15.0.34.20
Anti-malware : Malwaresbytes 3.3.1.2183

Hello, I think my previous question has been misinterpreted.
I do not ask for comment setting the default browser within Sandboxie.
I would like to know the procedure to ASK WINDOWS to start the browser
SANDBOXED as default browser.

Before posting this post I had already read the following posts:
- Change Sanboxie Default Browser
- Frequently Asked Questions

I thank you for the help you could give me.

Hello JASON789,

Sandboxie's default browser is Windows' default browser. So, for example, if you set Firefox to be the default Windows browser, when you click on the Sandboxie icon "Run Web browser" , it will launch Firefox in a sandbox.

You can create a shortcut so that when you click on it it launches your default browser Sandboxed. Here are the steps:
https://www.sandboxie.com/ConfigureMenu#shell

If you want Firefox (or your preferred default browser (Edge not supported) ) to start automatically in the Sandbox , that's a paid feature and you can find more info here:
https://www.sandboxie.com/ForceProcess

Barb.-

Hi Barb@Invincea and thanks for your answer.

You explain to me how to set the default browser on Sandboxie.

I said in my previous post that I understood that.
What I would like to know is how to ask Windows to always open my browser under Sandboxie.

Example:
- I receive an email with a link in it.
- I click on this link.
- Today, it's the default Windows browser that opens!
It is not opened by Sandboxie but by the Windows Explorer.
The mail link is opened by my default browser, not protected by Sandboxie.

Hello JASON789,

You can run your email program inside the Sandbox, which will cause anything invoked from it to start sandboxed. This is how you can configure it:
https://www.sandboxie.com/ApplicationsSettings#email
https://www.sandboxie.com/TestEmailConfiguration

To force a web browser (or any program) to always run inside a sandbox regardless of how are you invoking it, you will need the feature called Force Process, please see my previous response.

Hello,
same issue:
How to force Chrome to open links in the already opened sandboxed browser? (I use the unregistered version of sandboxie)

For Firefox it is no problem to enable it in the sandbox options. But what exactly do I have to setup in the sandbox options so that Chrome will open links as well in the sandboxed browser instead of opening a new unsandboxed instance of Chrome?

Please help
